Chapter 5, Teacher Candidates Engage with Queer Phenomena, centers around five assertions generated from research findings from a seven-month study that examined how pre-service teacher candidates encounter, make sense of, and respond to sexual and gender diversity in the field. Factual stories from participant experiences are provided as evidence to support these assertions and to candidly reveal how teacher candidates experience queer phenomena in K-8 public schooling.
